Legal Momentum is a National Ally for Vision 2020, a national project that seeks to launch an action agenda to move the United States toward gender equality by 2020, the centennial celebration of the 19th Amendment. On October 21-22, 2010, Vision 2020 sponsored "An American Conversation about Women and Leadership" in Philadelphia, featuring panels about increasing women’s leadership in all fields, from Law to Finance to Arts and Culture.
Lorelie Masters of Jenner & Block LLP served as a Vision 2010 Delegate from Washington, DC. She reflected on the conference in a series of blog posts for Legal Momentum, starting with her post below.
I am privileged to serve as one of the District of Columbia's Delegates at Vision 2020. Vision 2020 is a decade-long project dedicated to achieving women’s equality as part of the celebration of the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote. Each Delegate to Vision 2020 has committed to spend three years working on a project seeking to advance women's equality. Two Vision 2020 Delegates have been selected from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, and ten Visionary National Delegates have committed to working with the state Delegates to advance and facilitate their goals and objectives. The Delegates at Vision 2020 represent all of the areas of endeavor: business, law, and finance; health; education; media and communications; engineering, science, and technology; philanthropy, faith, and volunteerism; arts and culture; and politics and government. It is exciting and inspiring to be part of such an accomplished and creative group of women.
